Magistrate Lisa Stapleton said the ADVO banned him from contacting his ex-girlfriend.
The order was put in place after the Orange man contravened a previous AVO twice by being in the woman's presence at a home in Bourke.
He is not named to protect the identity of the victim. On April 21 the woman's mother heard the former couple arguing at her home and the woman said she would call the police.
On June 7, police went to the same address for a warrant for the man's arrest and found him hiding behind the laundry door.
The court was told the first breach occurred because the man wanted to approach the woman to talk about their relationship and it turned into an argument.
Ms Stapleton gave him a two-year Community Correction Order for each contravention. She also convicted him for failing to appear in Orange Local court on June 7.
"When she heard, 'that's just a piece of paper that doesn't stop me,' how does the victim feel when in fact it does [stop you]," Ms Stapleton said.
"In relation to the [April 21 offence] that after [she] called the police you might have worked out that she doesn't want to have contact with you.
"It's not only the court who has said 'no approach', she is saying 'no approach'.
"The laws keep people safe, if you break the law, especially about the safety of someone then there will be a [consideration] for a jail sentence."
The order ends in April 2023.
