The Western Premier League front runners started their match like a house on fire, as Gibb took a free kick from almost half-way that somehow winded up in the back of the net.

And after having a lot of the running for the remainder of the first half, Adam Scimone's men made it their goal to put the Bathurst-based side away in the early stages of the second stanza... but that wasn't to be.

Panorama struck back in the 48^th minute after Tahs' keeper Adam Brakenridge failed to dispose of the ball, leaving the hosts with work to do.

After 30 more minutes, it looked as though the sides were destined for a share of the spoils until an errant throw in from Panorama gave Adam Scimone some room, and when the captain-coach entered the box, he was ruled to have been contacted illegally, resulting in a penalty.

Nial Gibb was the man to take the dot shot as he buried it into the net, making more convincing work of his opportunity than Harry Kane did for England on Thursday morning.

"I always like taking penalties and when they asked me if I'd take it, I said sure," Gibb said.

As for the way the match unfolded, the Englishman thought it was good in patches.

"We started that match really well," Gibb said.

"We dominated the first half and showed why we're on top of the league. Our goal was to get another goal in that second half, but they came out quite strong.

"It was a pretty bad showing from us in the second half, and they probably should have taken a 2-1 lead to be honest. Their striker missed a sitter in the box."

It's easy to sit back and say that the squad didn't perform up to scratch after half time, but Gibb explained what he felt went wrong, specifically.

"There just wasn't much determination or grit," he said.

"There was no backing each other and people weren't fighting for the ball. We weren't making runs in behind either, like we were in the first half.

"People had their input after the game, but we need to take the positives out of it because we got away with three points."

Tahs' endurance will be put to the test on Saturday as they fall somewhat victim to the mid-week fixture.

This is because they're set for a road trip to Mudgee where they'll face Wolves on a short turnaround, a side that Gibb thinks is slightly underrated. "I missed the match that we played them, but from what I've heard, they shouldn't be as low as they are," he said.
