Central West Police District officers confirmed the lockdown, which began shortly after 12.50pm and was later resolved at around 2.30pm.
Police say a male was taken to hospital for treatment.
Earlier, an alert was sent to staff and students on campus urging them to remain in their rooms or offices or stay away from the campus on Leeds Parade.
"Due to a reported threat on campus, the campus has been placed in 'lockdown'," it read.
A Charles Sturt University spokesperson said staff did their best to assist police as required.
"On-campus activity has resumed and there is no risk to staff, students or the community."
