Learn how to make a winter essentials kit to equip yourself for the chilly months ahead. Each participant will make a small bag, which they can then fill with special things to help make the cold Orange winter more bearable. July 9. 10am to noon and 2pm to 4pm. Orange City Library. The Orange Region Farmers Market showcases produce strictly from the region, with over 60 stalls featuring flowers and plants, fruit and vegetables, artisan bread, cheeses, meats, olives and olive oil, gourmet preserves, free-range eggs and more. Sydney Film Festival
Save the date
A regional tour of the Sydney Film Festival will hit Orange for the first time in July. The Travelling Film Festival will bring a curated line-up of titles to the city, including acclaimed feature flicks and documentaries from this year's major film festivals; most notably the Oscars, Cannes and Sundance. July 23 to 25. Odeon 5 Cinemas.
Orange Readers and Writers Festival
Coming up
The Orange Readers and Writers and Writers Festival returns after a COVID-induced break in 2020. The program will feature inspiring fiction and non-fiction authors, including former minister Robert Tickner, crime author Petronella McGovern; ABC journalist Michael Brissenden; Photography curator Helen Ennis and high-profile tree-changer Todd Alexander. Orange Regional Museum's new long-term exhibition, Inherit: old and new histories, brings together stories from across the Central West, exploring the region's history. It highlights big events and significant personalities, as well as the lives and experiences of everyday people. More than 100 objects have been collected to tell the stories that have shaped the past and present. Until September 5.
