Central West Police District Inspector David Maher said at least 30 gold rings were stolen from the Angus and Coote shop at the front of the Orange City Centre complex in Summer Street.
He said two males smashed the front door at about 11.15pm, robbed the store and then headed toward Dubbo in a silver Kia hatchback believed to have been stolen from Hill End earlier on Saturday.
"They've stolen a substantial amount of jewellery."
Inspector Maher said it is believed the men were responsible for a similar raid on an Angus and Coote store in Dubbo later that night.
"Police are appealing for anyone with information. There were people on the street at that time of night. They should contact Orange police station or via Crimestoppers."
