Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions from Tuesday, July 6, on the Mitchell Highway, with the work stretching from two kilometres out of Molong to 50 kilometres north of the Cabonne hub.
Work will involve test pitting in the road shoulder to assess ground conditions for future road work along three sections of the highway.
Work will be carried out between 7am and 6pm until Friday, July 9, weather permitting.
During work hours single lane closures and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h will be in place for the safety of motorists and workers.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.
Transport for NSW thanks motorists for their patience during this time.
