It was a gruelling journey that saw Henri Sutton and Sean Ryan travel nearly 4,000km from the Gold Coast to Alice Springs, but they have arrived back in one piece and richer for the experience.

The Orange pair took part in this year's Shitbox Rally and managed to raise a little more than $18,000 for the Cancer Council.
Mr Ryan said it was an extraordinary experience.
"Even just the night before when the head of Cancer Council for QLD spoke and mentioned these breakthroughs they've had in the last few years that have been solely funded by the rally," he said.
"You get that sense that you're making a difference before you even leave.
"On the rally, talking to people who have lost someone and that's the reason they're there. It's a crazy experience and you get that realisation of their goals and that maybe your kids might live in this world where if they get diagnosed with cancer that it might not end their life."
The rules of the rally mean that you can't drive a car worth more than $1,000.
This can no doubt cause some issues as drivers navigate some less than ideal road conditions.
"The drive went amazingly well and we fell in love with the car. It outperformed our expectations," Mr Ryan added.
"There was another car exactly like our one that didn't make it."
But the journey wasn't without its hiccups.
"We made some different guards up before we left and one of them failed on the first day of gravel roads," he added.
"It was a steel and rubber guard and the rubber failed so we kept an eye out for an old truck tyre. Then we found one on the side of the road and that night, using an angle grinder we cut a piece of that tyre down and we duct taped it to the underside of the car.
"We were a bit dubious of how it would go but the next day we did about 300km of rough road but it made it. That was our only ongoing maintenance."
Mr Sutton and Mr Ryan even managed to finish in the top ten per cent in terms of money raised for the Cancer Council out 200-odd teams with their grand total of $18,471. This was part of a record breaking $2.9million raised by the rally in total.
"It was a credit to everyone that has donated money to us and our sponsors," Mr Ryan finished.
"That last day was a massive day of tar roads which is probably more boring than the dirt, but crossing that finish line was an amazing feeling and all you wanna do is go and have a shower.
"The following day with the awards and afterparty was awesome. We saw some amazing places along the way as well."
