The mission of a new registered NDIS business in Orange is all in the name.

Goals Community Services (GCS) is an organisation set on supporting clients and NDIS participants in achieving their individual goals through positive strength-based support.

The brainchild of local couple Daniel and Bose, GCS focuses on people living with a disability, offering a range of planned complementary supports.

A major area of focus at GCS is psychosocial recovery coaching which is suitable for helping people think through solutions and take control of their own success with positive support.

GCS also offers various healthy social activities including Zumba, which improves muscle tone and heart health; drumming to accelerate physical healing, boost the immune system and assist in releasing emotional trauma; therapeutic relaxation massage; movement therapy, skills development through games; and any other interest that promotes clients' goals.

These activities support the development of valuable social skills, and provide an avenue for social interactions in a safe environment. Other services offered are accommodation services, which include Supported Independent Living and respite supports.

Bose holds a Bachelor of Nursing degree and a Master's in Mental Health Nursing. She has more than 10 years' experience in nursing, management, teaching, mentoring, case management and as a front line worker with participants.

Of particular interest to Bose is her practice in the mental health and drug and alcohol sector. She thrives in group activities and discussions with a firm focus on rehabilitation and recovery.

She believes in evidence-based practice like therapeutic relaxation massage and dance therapy which has been proven to relieve the symptoms of depression and anxiety, helps relax muscle tension and improves physical health.

"These activities and more help connect the mind and body and improve overall physical and psychosocial wellbeing," she said.

Daniel has a sincere passion for the community, and extensive management experience, with a background in the arts. His qualifications include degree in adult education and political science, a postgraduate degree in Theatre Arts, and diplomas in project management, management, business, counselling and psychology, as well as a Master of Moving Image degree from the University of Sydney.

"We are offering happiness, clients deserve to be happy, their families and all stakeholders deserve to be happy," he said. "When our clients achieve their goals, we all celebrate and share the victory.

"Clients goals could range from wanting to learn to bake a cake, to gain support with daily tasks, a desire to lose weight or just to go hang-gliding."

GCS believes strongly in the power of positive support and unconditional positive regard. "What we want to do is help people really live their lives to the fullest capacity and ability," Daniel said.

"We believe in a personalised strength-based approach. We focus on the clients' goals and strengths to achieve those goals. We build on positives while working in the background on other needs."

Daniel and Bose draw staff from within the local community. They believe in connection to kin and country and that the community can care for itself.

"We believe in the 'happy staff, happy client' principle. We appreciate that our staff are also internal clients and deserve as much support and care as well," said Bose.

Goals Community Services is a community services organisation with a healthy connection to the community, networking with allied health services, social workers, NDIS support coordinators, plan managers and individuals in designing and implementing unique personalised care packages for clients.

The business is now formally rolling out in the Orange region, and is accepting referrals. If you're an NDIS participant or you support participants, why not give GCS a call on 0493 099 610, visit the website at www.gcshome.com.au or send an email to info@gcshome.com.au
