The 44-year-old man - who cannot be named in order to protect the identity of his victim - was due to appear in Orange Local Court on Monday.
According to police documents, the man contravened a domestic violence order against his former partner.
Despite being prohibited from going near or making contact with her, on June 18 police discovered the offender in the passenger seat of her car. The victim was driving the vehicle at the time.
As this constituted a contact breach, the offender was immediately arrested.
"The accused has a lengthy history of committing domestic violence offences, including significant breaches of Apprehended Domestic Violence Orders," the documents read.
When he failed to appear in court, magistrate David Day convicted him anyway. He was also fined $220.
