This year members of the Group 10 Referees' Association will pull on blue socks to help raise awareness for mental health and funds for Beyond Blue.
The proposal was brought to the association's executive by senior referee Bryce Hotham who thought it would be a great way to help raise awareness for mental health and give back to the rugby league community at the same time.
Group 10 Referees' Association president Nathan Blanchard says his group of whistle-blowers is keen to back the concept - and they'll do so in numbers this weekend in both Orange and Bathurst for Group 10 games and in the mid-west competition too.
"The idea came about after Bathurst Panthers invited us to a seminar run by the Mental Heath Movement, presented by Ashton Sims," Blanchard said.
"After that we wanted to do something. That's when Bryce made the suggestion."
Bathurst Toyota funded the socks and kicked off the donation process by kicking in another $500 to Beyond Blue.
"We can't thank Shane Gilchrist enough for his willingness to get behind a great cause," Blanchard added.
Donation buckets will be available at all Group 10 grounds over the weekend.
