1/ There are many people who want the sport precinct over near Bloomfield, but many who don't so this is creating a whole section of the community unhappy, and feeling helpless to save this area. The job of Orange City Council is to listen to the people and make decisions based on community opinions. If you move the stadium to another area where less trees will be destroyed and away from health facilities, still build, but a different location, then everyone will be happy!

2/The mayor loves trees, but is happy to knock 513 down? And hectares to be knocked down in the SCA.

3/There are only some pine trees, there are lots of other trees as well including natives.

4/As you are also an interim council, because of Covid, then all major decisions should be left until the newly elected council takes over.

5/Many customers come into my shop, and I have not talked to anyone who wants those trees near Bloomfield knocked down, they want the stadium in a different location.

6/Old growth trees are homes to many birds and wildlife, so even if you plant 1000 trees you cannot replace the homes that they create.

7/Tourists come into my shop, and they never come to see a stadium or bike tracks, they come to see nature, beautiful scenic places, bush walks etc

8/ I have seen videos of mountain bikers flying down the [Canobolas] mountain at high speeds on tracks up there already.

I am just wondering how they are allowed to do this when it hasn't been approved yet? I am also wondering what happens if one of them plow into me while bush walking? Who will compensate me for those injuries? Also I have noticed the huge amount of damage and erosion these tracks are causing ...

9/Do you realize that there are people who are totally against the trees being knocked down but because they have businesses or just worried about speaking out and afraid, they are not saying anything?

I am totally upset about this.

There are getting fewer and fewer areas like this.

When they are all gone, will you be happy?

I understand that people want the stadium, but why not build it elsewhere to keep everyone happy? It is causing conflict between people of the town, when we should join together and work towards a mutual solution.

If any business owners have the courage to voice their opinion as well, please write to the paper.

Time to make a stand.
