The Orange fighter went down by unanimous decision to Scotland's George Mann in a WBC World Muay Thai title fight in Perth over the weekend.
"It was a frustrating fight like we knew it was gonna be," Bubb said.
"Throughout the fight, George would kick me and I wasn't countering back for the first two rounds. Then rounds three, four and five I started to press the action a bit more.
"I thought I didn't do enough after the fight, but when I got back to my corner they were telling me that I'd won so I had a bit of anxiety when the decision was getting read. He got the decision and you have to be gracious in defeat or victory, so all props to him, he did well."
Scoring in Muay Thai fights is based on a round per round basis. The fighter who is judged to have won the round is given 10 points and the loser is given 9, 8 or 7 judged on their performance in the round.
Watching his fight back the next day, Bubb thought he had bested Mann in rounds three, four and five, but because the Muay Thai scoring system rewards kicks over punches, he believes this was the reason for the defeat.
"It's more scored as a game, so different techniques score different," he said.
"The way I looked at it watching it back on Sunday morning, those three rounds were mine and I got a lot of messages saying I won, but they don't know how to score Muay Thai. So you can punch someone all day, but if they land two or three big kicks on you that's their round.
"I was obviously disappointed but just the way Muay Thai is, it's more of a game and George played the better game that night."
Although the experience has turned him off the sport a little bit, he is still keen to get back in the ring.
"Obviously I want a rematch with George because and I want that belt. It's been a big dream of mine but depends where the matchups are," he said.
"He's the champion now so he gets to make the calls. I'm in a two fight contract with Muay Thai Grand Prix so they have two more shows to end the year in August and October, so whatever they come back with, if George is available we'll take that."
But in the meantime, Bubb is keen to relax and let his body recover.
"I haven't seen the boys for a while so I'll chill out with them, but give me a few days or a week and I'll be edging to make plans."
