Orange's first winter snowfall for 2021 might be a little less blanket and more torn-up doily, if the Bureau of Meteorology's latest update for this week is anything to go by.

The region will receive some snow on the back of a wintry blast smacking the Central Tablelands come Wednesday, with the mercury set to plummet to a top of just six degrees Celcius.
But any form of meaningful snow coverage isn't on the cards, not for the Orange region anyway.
Mount Canobolas, sitting at just under 1400 metres, is predicted to receive some snow come Wednesday evening and into Thursday but the BoM radar indicates it'll be patchy at best, meaning it's unlikely backyards across the city will turn into a winter wonderland.
The Oberon and Jenolan Caves areas look to be the region's best bet at significant snowfall.
Snow is predicted on Wednesday and Thursday, and then again on Friday morning, for the higher eastern parts of the Central West.
Closer to Orange, the cool weather will be accompanied by significant rain, with up to 25mm falling on Wednesday and another 20mm on the cards on Thursday, with a 95 per cent and a 90 per cent chance respectively.
Wednesday's top of six degrees Celcius will be followed by a maximum of just five degrees on Thursday, and then another top of just six on Friday.
Monday's top temperature of a mostly sunny 13 degrees will prove a welcome, albeit short-lived, reminder of the dry autumn we've just enjoyed ahead of the mid-week freeze.
