The Victorian-bred blue dog arrived north to Craig Tuntler in December and, in six starts at Dubbo, he's drawn box five three times, six twice and the seven alley once.
On Saturday at Dawson Park, Slingshot Darius lines up over 307m and owner Jay Ferguson is delighted that the speedster has come up with an inside alley.
"His brilliant pace has compensated for the bad boxes but he's really at his best on the inside," Ferguson said.
"In January, he injured a metacarpal and needed time. Craig and Amanda have been very patient with Darius and he's won three from six for them with two placings.
"It's all about having him at the right distance, in the right company and he could not be in a better place than at Cudal."

Dubbo's 318m is getting towards the end of Slingshot Darius' distance range yet his high speed sets him apart from most in lower grades.
First up from a 16-week break, Slingshot Darius scored at Dubbo in 18.66 and career win three followed three days later in 18.52 - just .08 outside his previous personal best.
With moderate beginner Drunken Ollie in box one, Slingshot Darius is drawn to quickly take control and, thereafter, his catch me-if-you-can, all-in pattern will be unpacked.
Craig Tuntler and partner Amanda Ginn will be busy all night with six engaged at Dubbo yet others have even more to do.
Dubbo Greyhound Club president Shayne Stiff has six drawn - including Dubbo Future Stars winner Zipping Aubry - while Paul and Pam Braddon will make their regular trip from Cowra with nine on board.
Five of the Braddon team clash in race four over 318m and it shapes as a genuine drag race.
The equal slowest, for want of a better term, personal best of the seven to contest the Zipping Garth at Stud Stakes is feature winner Zipping Aubry (box four) and Magical Bear (eight) at 18.23.
Their cumulative wins at Dubbo over 318m total 41 at an impressive strike rate of 38.31 per cent.
The action starts at Dawson Park at 7.21pm.
