A top of just 6 degrees Celcius is predicted for the region come the middle of next week, and with that dip in top temperature snow is expected too.
The BoM's Meteye says snow is expected to begin falling at around 1pm on Wednesday afternoon, with falls to continue to build into the evening.
The forecast is showing a 95 per cent chance of rain, too, with as much as 20mm expected to fall in the Central Business District.
It'll be our coldest day of winter to date, and the high chance of rain will follow a relatively damp start to the week as well.
Following an 80 per cent chance of rain on Friday, there's then a 10 per cent shot at more rain on Monday and then an 80 per cent chance of rain again on Tuesday.
Up to 10mm is expected to fall next Tuesday.
The mercury will hover around the 11 degrees mark next week, peaking at 12 on Monday before plummeting on Wednesday to help bring about more-snow-friendly conditions for the mountain.
Meanwhile, Orange has enjoyed its best rainfall in over two months.
The city slept through nearly 25mm of rain on Wednesday night, with the Bureau of Meterology's official weather station at the airport recording 24.2mm of rain in the 24 hours leading up until 9am on Thursday morning.

The rain then continued to tumble throughout the day, with another 13.2mm at our official station up until 3pm on Thursday.
In total the 37.4mm was our most since March, when we were drenched by over 70mm in a two-day period on March 23 and 24.
The early June rainfall also marks about half of this month's average rainfall total, with 76.7mm the norm.
The wet start to June comes on the back of two relatively dry months, with just 5mm in the gauge in April and a tick of 40mm recorded in May.
