The green and golds ran away 46-10 victors against Bathurst St Pat's during Mudgee's Magic Round.
After scoring five tries in the opening 40 minutes to take a 24-0 lead at the break, CYMS piled on four more tries to win in the second half to claim a 46-10 against a disappointing St Pat's outfit at the Glen Willow Regional Sports Stadium.
CYMS fullback Lachie Munro scored a double and so did winger Addison Williams, while St Pat's scored its two tries in the final 10 minutes.
CYMS coach Daniel Mortimer said he was pleased with his team's performance, considering the windy conditions at Mudgee.
"We knew there was a few points in the wind, so we didn't get too carried away in the first half," he said.
"It was really pleasing that the boys stepped up. I thought we played some really smart footy."
It's CYMS second consecutive win and second straight match that it has scored 40 points, after downing city rivals Hawks last Sunday.
Mortimer said the recruitment of ex-Cowra Magpies players Jack Buchanan and Jack Nobes, mixed with the performance of a number of up and coming juniors is helping push the club in a positive direction.
"Jack Buchanan and Jack Nobes from Cowra have really embraced the structure and culture of the club. We're lucky to get those two late in the pre-season, with Cowra pulling out of the competition," he said.
"We've got a lot of young enthusiastic boys coming through that are club juniors. We really want to nurture them, as they're the future and they're really standing up.
"We've had about five or six debuts from younger boys over the last three weeks and that's really pleasing as a coach."
St Pat's coach Zac Merritt, who was still absent from the team on Saturday due to injury, said his team's mindset wasn't right.
"I think there's something wrong with our whole mindset," he said.
"I tried to challenge the boys at half-time to get our mindset right and unfortunately, when you're having one of those days, you're having one of those days.
"We'll go back to the drawing board and fix it up."
While St Pat's went down by 36 points, Merritt was pleased that Mitch Browne and Jackson Brien were able to score late tries, to make sure the Bathurst club would leave Mudgee with at least some points.
"When you've got an opportunity, we've got to play out of those structures and take those opportunities," he said.
"We played good footy at the end, so I was happy that they did that eventually.
"We just need to work on our defence. It's key for us. We leak way too many points. Defence is an attitude and we need to fix it up."
ORANGE CYMS 46 (Lachie Munro 2, Addison Williams 2, Hayden Spencer, Jordan Clark, Cam Jones, Jack Nobes, Robbie Mortimer tries; Addison Williams 5 goals) defeated ST PAT'S 10 (Mitch Browne, Jackson Brien tries; Tyler Colley goal)
