The 35-year-old Trundle Boomer wasn't sure if his body would be able to handle the punishment of a footy game every weekend.
But, as as many of his club mates predicted, Hall made a last-minute decision to throw on the jersey for the side's opening match against Molong and now - just a month later - the five-eighth is set to captain the Woodbridge representative side in its clash against George Tooke Shield on Saturday.
The men's squad will do battle with the Canberra-based outfit at Harden Oval, and Hall is pumped to take the field with four of his Boomers teammates.
"I won't be the youngest fella in the sheds... that's for sure," Hall laughed.
"But, we've got a good little system up here at Trundle. Almost the whole right edge will be from Trundle.
"The club's made it to five grand finals in-a-row so we're obviously doing something right. It's just a reward for the culture we've set up. I think my goal this weekend will just be to guide the boys around."
Brad Watt, Ryan Porter, Blake Ridges and Jesse Durning are set to join Hall on Saturday, while the likes of Luke Petrie (Manildra), Torin Hando (Peak Hill), and Ronald Lawrence (Canowindra) shape as other key members of the side.
According to Hall, neither group will be familiar with each other this weekend, making defence a hard task for both rosters.
"Not many of these guys have defended against each other so we just need to capitalise on our opportunities," he said.
While he's excited for Saturday's rep game, Hall is mindful of Trundle's round six clash at Grenfell, especially with five blokes planning to back up.
"I know for a fact that Grenfell will never give you an easy game," he said.
"They've got more experience than most sides out here.I know they were struggling for numbers, but they're getting better."
Hall admitted that there's been a big turnover of players at Trundle, but praised the fresh crop of talent that's come through.
"We've got such a resilient bunch of guys," he said.
"There's only three or four blokes over 25, and the rest of them are kids. There's a great vibe around the club.
"I suppose there's been a bit of a changing of the guard but these young fellas have come in and they're all really enjoyable to be around."
Saturday's men's representative contest will kick-off at 2.30pm from Harden.
The ladies' league tag fixture will start at 1.15pm.
