The Rabbitohs halfback will finish his 10th season with the NRL club this year before joining the Broncos, who went hard to secure the 30-year-old as last year's wooden spooners attempt a rebuild under Kevin Walters.

After the move was made official on Thursday morning, Reynolds addressed media in Brisbane ahead of Saturday's Magic Round clash against Cronulla - the other club chasing his signature - at Suncorp Stadium.

He cut a sombre figure though, admitting he wanted to remain a one-club man but with the Rabbitohs unwilling to offer a long-term deal as they balance their roster, Reynolds understood "sometimes you've just got to roll with the punches".

"That's football. Not everything goes your way in your career," the father of four said.

"I'd love to have stayed a one-club man but things have popped up and security for me was a big thing, that's No.1 in my life.

"I bleed red and green ... it's never easy to leave the place you've grown up your whole life but in saying that I'm happy it's done and out of the way and I can move on and focus on footy."

Reynolds said discussions with Walters and new chief executive Dave Donaghy had excited him, while his current coach's previous stints at the Broncos had also helped.

Set to leave the Rabbitohs himself at season's end, Bennett has been linked to a move to two of the three potential Brisbane expansion clubs for 2023 or even back to Red Hill to work with Walters.

Reynolds said he "didn't know what Wayne was doing tomorrow", let alone in the coming seasons, but that he had a good working relationship with the veteran coach.

"Chatting to him made me a little bit more comfortable about the place and where he's been before," he said.

"And Kev's a passionate man. You can see in games when you watch them his emotion he brings to the club.

"Having chats with him and Dave, they've been supportive and clear in the way they want to go, which made the decision a little easier."
