When Waratahs FC looked at the 2021 Western Premier League schedule, they set out a goal to win as many matches as they could during their six-game home stand to start off the title race.
After five games in their back yard, the sky blues have put together a remarkable four-win record, their latest triumph coming under lights against the formidable Orana Spurs FC to the tune of 3-1.
And even though midfielder Ryan Sinclair is stoked at the squad's progression so far, he's adamant there are still plenty of improvements to come.
"I think we've definitely got another gear in us, so it was good to get that result," Sinclair.
"We were a bit sluggish in the first half, but Adam [Scimone] gave us a bit of a rev up at half-time and he responded."
The scoreline read 1-1 at the break, making the 3-1 triumph even more impressive.
The hosts shut out Spurs in the final 45 minutes, which wasn't easy for them to do.
"That's the best side we've come against so far, for sure," he said.
"They're quick and strong across the paddock and they all seemed to be two-foot taller than us.
"Even when we were up 2-1 in the second half, they were putting a lot of pressure on us.
"Their goal keeper was probably the reason the score board didn't blow out in the second half."
It's hard to make a league-wide assessment this early, but Sinclair still thinks the most dangerous sides reside at Dubbo.
"Any of those teams, when they get all their players back, they'll be tough," he said.
"It's tough to comment on Bulls before we play them but they've got a lot of old heads who are all good players.
"Even Mudgee, they're a lot better than where they sit on the ladder."
Waratahs will have a bye next week before hosting Panorama in their last home game before an arduous road trip.
"We should be able to pick up a few wins in the second half of the season but we're in a good spot on the ladder now," he said.
