The gates are open until 9pm on Saturday and from 9am-4pm on Sunday.

Saturday's key events include the woodchop from 10am-2pm with performances from singer Clancy Pye and Big Al the Rodeo Clown during the day.

The grand opening of the 149th Orange Show will take place at 2pm.

There will also be lawn mower racing from 4.30pm. The fireworks display starts at 7.30pm.

However, motorists have been warned to slow down and be patient as COVID-19 restrictions have created changes to parking and show entrances for this weekend's Orange Show.

Orange City Council was told this week a 40km/h speed limit would be in place on Leeds Parade and Margaret and Phillip streets and there would be no car access to the show site, including for people with disability stickers.

Instead parking areas, and floodlights, will be set up on Leeds Parade for people with disabilities to be dropped off.

This year, due to COVID restrictions, people will only be able to enter the showground from Leeds Parade, and not from side streets as in the past.

No-stopping restrictions have been lifted for the weekend for 300 metres on the railway side of Leeds Parade to assist with disability parking.

Infrastructure Policy committee chair Cr Russell Turner said disabled parking had previously been available on other streets but not this year.

"It's not ideal but it was made very difficult by having only one entrance whereas normally there are three entrances and a lot more ability to have more disabled parking down on Margaret Street," he said.

"That's not allowed this year due to COVID."

Cr Stephen Nugent said he had been contacted by people worried by the situation.

"There have been some concerns raised with me in relation to parking, particularly for people with disabilities being able to park and get in safely to the show," he said.

"Leeds Parade is a busy road and parking is not normally allowed on Leeds Parade."

Cr Nugent said people needed space to get wheelchairs out of their cars and set up.

Cr Jeff Whitton said he feared "it's going to turn into a bit of a nightmare out there."

The gates are open from 9am-9pm on Saturday and 9am-4pm on Sunday.
