It's often touted as a faster-paced and more expansive brand of footy and Canowindra head coach Kev Grimshaw has wholeheartedly embraced that style in 2021.
The ladder-leading Tigers are approaching one of their biggest games in recent memory as they welcome the Cargo Heelers to Tom Clyburn Oval on their club's centenary match day.
And when The Central Western Daily asked the veteran mentor what he wants to see from his boys on Saturday afternoon, he answered quickly.
"We want to play some eyes-up footy and throw the ball around," Grimshaw said.
"There's going to be a lot of people at the game and we want to give them something to watch.
"We have to earn the right to play like that... Cargo won't just let us do it. We'll use structure coming out of our own end but when we're in attacking territory, we want to play some second phase."
Every dynamic outfit has a couple of crafty big men and Grimshaw is looking for some finesse out of Kane Earsman and Ronald Lawrence.
"Both of those blokes can play the ball before and after the line," he said.
"This type of footy is better to watch and we really do want to bring the crowd into it."
Every regular season round is crucial in a side's bid for a premiership, but Saturday's tilt is especially important.
Canowindra had six players selected into the Woodbridge Cup representative side, meaning it will be without half a dozen stars for a round five trip to Peak Hill next weekend.
The Roosters are shaping up as one of the premiere sides in the competition, making the looming Cargo clash all the more important.
"It's a must-win game for us," he said.
"Even though it's only three games in, we've got to go to Peak Hill next week with six rep players out.
"The boys need to forget about what day it is and stay focused."
It's a full day of footy at Tom Clyburn Oval before the first-grade match kicks off at 2.30pm.
