With only a few days to go until the 149th Orange Show, the committee's new president Charles Dunkley has no small job wrangling an event that organisers hope will be a very different beast to the shows of previous years.

"I think this year's show is significantly different... We're working really, really hard to... make a big show for a big town," he said.
"We've had a lot of change in the way that we do things. We've changed programs, sections, things have gone out, things gone in... [and] we're still looking at different ways of doing stuff."
Fortunately for Mr Dunkley though, as he is quick to emphasis, he has a small army of volunteers behind him.
"I may be president and sitting up the top but our committee is more of a team. We're very much not directed [by] one person... We're a team effort," he said.
"We were lucky to have Peter Naylor [as president] for so long but he thought it was time to retire."
Originally from the Gunnedah region, Mr Dunkley has only been in Orange for the past five years, but has been involved with the "show movement" for most of his life.
Prior to joining the Orange Show Society committee, he had got involved with the annual event through the poultry and horse sections.
His decision to take on the role of president following show stalwart Peter Naylor stepping down was motivated by a desire to contribute.
"I think we've all got to do our little bit to keep the show going if we're wanting to [see it survive]," Mr Dunkley said.
"I just don't want to see the past lost," he added. "We all need to do our bit to keep the show movement going forward."
The 149th Orange Show is on this Saturday and Sunday, May 8 and 9, from 9am at the Orange Showgrounds.
A full show program is available from the showground office on Leeds Parade or on the show's website.
