And the Orange Residents and Ratepayers Association president and ticket leader Amanda Spalding said she would be running for mayor.
Holding bubble-blowing 'light sabres' to recognise Star Wars Day [as in May the 4th be with you] the team was unveiled at Cook Park on Tuesday.
We need to be big picture. My team are big picture people.
- Amanda Spalding, ORRA president
The other members of the team are Orange pharmacy proprietor Frances Kinghorne, financial adviser and Orange Business Chamber secretary Daniel McGregor, teacher and educator Jennifer Lacey, community worker and FoodCare Orange president Bev Williams and former ORRA president Colin Young.
Mr Young is the only member of the team to have previously stood for council.
Ms Spalding said she had an extensive history of working in local government.
"I have over 30 years working in the public sector in NSW and in England. A lot of that in local government," she said.
"We need to be big picture. My team are big picture people," she said.
Ms Spalding said she had leadership experience which would suit the role of mayor.
The team released a 10-point pledge to the people of Orange.
It included building 'a new and inclusive partnership' between the council, business and community groups. "We recognise that the mayor and councillors are representatives of the people, not controllers of the people," it said.
It said they would be an independent team 'free to exercise our own judgement'.
"We pledge to unite the community, not divide it."
