It will reduce the need for people to travel to Sydney for health assessments.
After 21 years in Dalton Street Healthcare Imaging Services has expanded into a second facility, Central West Radiology Bloomfield, in the Bloomfield Medical Centre complex.
Operations manager Nicole Evans said the technology was a significant step for the Central West.
"It is really friendly to our patients," she said.
Mrs Evans said the Magnetom Lumina MRI system and the Somatom Flash CT scanner were a 'a great step for health equity' in regional areas.
"Previously, local residents were required to travel up to several hours for specific CT and MRI imaging, making it a disruptive, costly and stressful experience for those often managing injuries and illness," she said.
Mrs Evans said the CT scanner could scan the entire chest in less than one second and perform a whole-body scan in only five seconds.
She said it could image any heart within a single beat and reduced the need for Beta blocker medications to reduce blood pressure and heart rate for imaging.
It also reduces the need for people to hold their breath, or be sedated, for the imaging.
Mrs Evans said it also meant people could have an assessment in the morning and see a specialist that afternoon in Orange.
It has been operating for about two weeks but will be officially opened on Thursday afternoon.
