Adam Richard Ohar, 51, was visiting Orange from Parramatta when he was stopped by officers while carrying a 38-inch Hisense television just after 11am on February 24.
Ohar told police he had just picked up the television from a friend's house.
That friend turned out to be a person who was wanted by police in relation to "judicial offences".
Ohar said he thought the wanted man was in Queensland.
Police conducted a search of Ohar and found two prescription, anti-inflammatory drugs, which he did not have a script for, in his bum-bag.
Ohar said he had found the two 15mg meloxicam tablets when he was picking up the Hisense TV from his friend's house.
Police confiscated the TV and issued Ohar with Field Court Attendance.
Ohar did not appear in Orange Local Court when he was convicted by magistrate David Day for possessing a prescribed restricted substance and fined $220.
