Barnesy's Lifeline Tour, kicking off on Monday April 26, will see Mr Barnes undertake a six-day cycle from Orange to Eugowra.
He will stay the first night in Molong, and then head to Manildra, Cudal, Canowindra, Gooloogong and Eugowra over subsequent days.
In order to keep costs to a bare minimum and raise as much money as possible for Lifeline, Mr Barnes set out a few weeks ago in his van to let accommodation and food proprietors know of his trek.
Mr Barnes is not shy when it comes to getting people to kick in, and by the end of his two-day road trip he had secured a bed and a feed at every point along the way.
"People are good," Mr Barnes said.
"I went to see the first one, Liz at the Molong Motor Inn, told her what I was doing, and she's like 'yep, yep'.
"Then you go to the next one: 'Mate, Molong Motor Inn are going to put me up', and they go, 'Yeah, we'll do the same'."
In order to give himself the best shot at finishing the 160km trek, Mr Barnes has upped his regime.
"The most I've cycled since I was a teenager is that I ride my pushbike to the aquatic centre every Sunday, swim a kilometre - it's probably a five k round trip," he said.
"I've been riding every second day for the last month 15 to 20 kilometres.
"I'll get there."
Mr Barnes will certainly not be wearing Lycra, however he will be sporting hi-vis shirts with "Barnesy's Lifeline Tour" printed on them, donated by Orange Clothing Company.
He'll auction them off at each destination in the hope of raising some more dollars.
As for his bike, he said: "It's just normal, it's not a road bike, just an ordinary bike, a good bike, like a mountain bike type thing."
Mr Barnes made a second visit to his destinations last weekend to drop off a cardboard box at each one.
"It's got a change of undies, socks, shirt, cereal for the morning, some nuts and a tin of salmon, so when I ride the next day it goes in my saddle bags so I don't have to carry a tonne of stuff."
Gooloogong threatens to be the biggest night on the tour, with the River Rats playing a free gig at the pub as part of a Lifeline fundraiser.
"The best thing is that the Gooloogong to Eugowra leg is the shortest of the lot," he said.
"I'm going to have a few beers - I'll be right to get to Eugowra."
