It's been 16 years since the main ground was given a makeover, the last improvement coming in 2005 after complaints over faulty fabric.
Association president Daryl Kennewell says it's a welcomed addition to the facilities.
"Everyone's pretty excited about it," he said.
"The last one was a bit how you going... the new one should be done on Friday afternoon and we're hoping to play on it on Saturday."
Kennewell described the field as a "hybrid ground with sand on it", suggesting it will play more like a water-based surface.
"It's going to be a bit bouncy to start off with," he said.
"These surfaces are meant to last 9-12 years so we were about due for a new one."
CYMS and Ex-Services are set to do battle at the complex on Saturday at 12.30pm as the latter will look to bounce back from a one-sided loss to Lithgow in round one, while the green and golds will seek another win.
United plays away at Lithgow.
Kick-off is 12.30pm.
