When ET the Extra-Terrestrial uttered those four short words to a plucky, young Elliot Thompson back in 1982 he was referring to the youngster's memory, but come Friday they're set to take on new meaning as the alien lands at Orange's Robertson Park.
Not literally, of course, although the Steven Spielberg classic certainly sparked renewed interest in whether we are indeed alone in this world upon its release more than 30 years ago.
In a nostalgic trip down memory lane the four-time Oscar-winning classic will be the feature of Orange City Council's Future Flix outdoor cinema event, which is free event being held in partnership with Orange Open Air.
The event is also being run with assistance from the NSW Government's Summer Fund, which supports councils to enliven local public spaces in the wake of the pandemic and run events to support local businesses and boost the economy.
Friday night's Future Flix outdoor cinema event will be run in a similar way to council's monthly Future Tunes music gigs, with stalls set up in the park for people to purchase food and drinks.
"This is something a bit different, and another great way to get out into the city centre and spend a relaxing evening in one of Orange's premier public spaces, Robertson Park," Orange mayor Reg Kidd said.
"Everyone is encouraged to come along, bring their chairs, picnic rugs or a warm blanket, and enjoy a great outdoor event before the cooler weather really sets in."
Friday's event is ticketed, to book your tickets visit Orange City Council's events calendar at www.orange.nsw.gov.au/events and follow the links.
Gates open at 5.30pm and the film will begin at 6.30pm.
