It's impossible to miss the common theme that abounds in the makeshift gallery taken over by Colour City Creatives. What's perhaps less obvious, is how EARTH, the title of the community art group's latest exhibition, ties in with FOOD Week.
"Our food comes from the earth so we chose that as a theme to give [artists] a broad option... and also, earth is part of the universe," Colour City Creatives' (CCC) "media mama" and artist Jolanta Nejman said.
"The landscape we live in, here in the Central West of NSW informs our every day, through each phase of the moon, each turning of the earth.
"We have what is rare in Australia; here in Orange we have the four seasons. Seasons changing and challenging us, like the fires of 2019, the ecological crisis of the earth and the worldwide economic crisis of Covid, this environment is experienced and imagined by our artists and expressed in their art."
From Friday and for the first three days of FOOD Week - and then the following Friday, Saturday, Sunday to kick off week two - around a dozen local artists from CCC will exhibit a range of works in the EARTH Art Exhibition.

The diverse collection will feature multiple different mediums, including paintings, photography, sculpture and ceramics - all of it inspired from the natural landscape and environment.
"We were informed by our surroundings and... with what's happened to the world... I think the world's come a little bit closer together because we're all going through the same thing: the economic problems, climate change, the virus," Ms Nejman said.
The works which range in price from $80 to $1100 will be on sale in the pop-up art space from 10am until 3pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Entry to the EARTH Art Exhibition is free and bookings are not required. The pop-up gallery is located inside the old Silmac Building at 49-52 Peisley Street (look for the orange flags out the front). For more information about the exhibition or CCC, contact 6362 7354.
Orange FOOD Week starts Friday and runs everyday until Sunday, April 18. Tickets for all events are available on the festival's website.
