Cafe Latte owners Aaron and Emma Wright confirmed the news via a social media post, vowing to ensure their long-running main street shop front returns "bigger and stronger" in the future.

"It's with sadden hearts to share our beloved Latte was lost this afternoon," the post read.

"The fire could not be contained above us. We are absolutely devastated, we will come back bigger and stronger."

Fire and Rescue NSW crews remain on the scene, with the Orange station confirming 25 personnel are on hand to extinguish the blaze.

The Fire and Rescue NSW management team from the Bathurst zone office is in attendance, too.

NSW Police confirmed Summer Street is expected to be closed overnight on Monday and the shop will be guarded before an investigation into the blaze is conducted.

A Fire and Rescue NSW spokesman said there is some fears of structural damage to the near-by buildings. The source of the blaze is undetermined.

"We have to wait for the blaze to be extinguished before we can conduct an investigation," Central West Police District Chief Inspector Peter Atkins said.

Earlier, as of 2.30pm on Monday afternoon, police and ambulance officers were on the scene, crews were continuing to fight the blaze, which had escalated significantly in the hours since emergency services received reports.

Fire crews were believed to have been forced out of the building to continue the fight from below, the escalating blaze was said to have created a threat to structural integrity and therefore the firefighters as a result.

Reportedly, they had been able to re-enter the building shortly afterward.

With Summer Street closed while the battle continued, Fire and Rescue NSW confirmed there had been no injuries to the public and the structures directly surrounding the building were all believed to be unoccupied due to the public holiday.
