A jury has found Darryle Lee Tailford not guilty of murdering his 20-year-old common-law brother-in-law Richard 'Ricky' Eggins in Orange on March 2, 2019.

Tailford pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty to manslaughter before the Supreme Court murder trial started at Orange Courthouse on March 2, 2021, after the Crown prosecutor refused to accept the manslaughter plea.
During the trial, the jury heard that the then 26-year-old Tailford stabbed Eggins with a two-pronged carving fork that slipped between Eggins' second and third ribs, and pierced his aorta.
However, the jury had to determine if Tailford intended to inflict grievous bodily harm or serious injury, after hearing evidence from before and after the incident.
The jury gave its verdict at 12.51pm on Monday.
A sentencing hearing for the manslaughter charge has been adjourned until June.
