The 21-year-old Runner's Club stalwart lost consciousness while riding his bike, crashing into a parked car and breaking his neck, jaw and nose.
He was airlifted to Westmead Hospital and ever since that day, he's been working towards a return to the track.
It's taken countless hours of rehabilitation but this Sunday at the club's Running Festival, Daintith will compete again.
He's set to run in the men's 6km dash, the event acting as the main event in place of the cancelled marathon.
How's he feeling ahead of his comeback? Grateful.
"I've got a second lease on life," he said.
"My goal is basically just to finish it, and enjoy it. I haven't really been able to participate in the last couple of months and I'm just excited to get back to doing what I love.
"That could have possibly been taken away from me."
It's not only Jack who's passionate about the Runner's Club, but so is his whole family.
His father Anthony was a long-time president of the club and ever since 2010, Jack's enjoyed the family-first culture.
'I like that we can all be involved in it," he said.
"There's all sorts of people who are part of the club and it's especially nice in a community like Orange where lots of families are involved."
Daintith will be one of the key players in Sunday's main event, but so will Jack Bilton and Mitch Williamson.
Funnily enough, Williamson is the coach of both Bilton and Daintith and has been touted as somewhat of a running genius by his peers.
The biggest difference about this year's main race is obviously the distance, Daintith suggesting the competitors will be almost sprinting the whole time.
"It's only three laps of Gosling Creek so it's a pretty short course," he said.
"We'll be full pelt the whole time and just trying to hold on."
The Running Festival will kick-off from 8.30am at Gosling Creek with the kids run starting the day.
Following that is the women's 6km dash at 9.45am.
Lastly, the men's will get underway at 11am.
