Houses on the eastern side of Orange finished their collections a couple of weeks ago, while the council is in its final stages of collecting items on the west.

Council communications officer, Allan Reeder, said the scheme had "generally" been a success.

"If bulky items are still on your verge at this stage, the mostly likely reason is that they are not the kind of waste that was able to be collected," he said.

"While a range of waste was on the list for collection, items like car batteries, tyres, mattresses, and gas bottles couldn't be picked up in this kind of collection."

He added residents would have to remove any waste which is outside their home and not on the approved list.

"Items, such as e-waste and oils can be taken for free to your Community Recycling Centre," he said.

"Another option is to pick up a free waste voucher from the Civic Centre which lets you take a trailer load to the Ophir Road centre at no charge."

The areas still be visited for general bulky waste are;

- Brooklands Drive/ Botanic Way

- Margaret St/ Anson St (between Dalton & Margaret St)/ Oak St/ Victoria St/ Dale St/ Wahratta Way/ Harvest Pl/ Windfred St/ Simpson St/ Kearneys Dr ( between Matthews Ave & Margaret St)

- North Orange - William Maker Drive area
