Vision was limited in parts of North Orange, with most cars using headlights and reducing speed.
Brendon Sturgeon Oval was lost in a cloud of fog at about 8am.
Helen Reid from the Bureau of Meteorology said that fog was was "basically a cloud but at ground level".
"[It occurs] when the ground temperature of air gets low enough for moisture to condense into water droplets; it usually happens in this part of the world when it's a still night and the air cools enough for the moisture to create little clouds.
"Usually when the sun comes out the air warms up and [the fog] evaporates."
She said that thunderstorms and rainfall across the state on Thursday added a lot of moisture to the atmosphere.
Saturday is expected to have a minimum of 12C and a maximum of 23C, with a 60 percent chance of rain.
Sunday's forecast is for a minimum of 12C and a maximum of 27C.
There is a 40 percent chance of rain on Sunday.
For the first day of autumn, March 1, there is a forecast top of 28C.
The UV Index across Saturday and Sunday is predicted to be extreme.
