Daniel Beach and wife Emily will be managing the day-to-day business of the pub on behalf of a group which didn't want to see it go the way of the dinosaur.
"We've got three new owners and it's a partnership of local families here in town," Mr Beach said.

"They basically didn't want to see the pub end up closed. It's been on the market for a while, they just didn't want to see it go rack and ruin so they decided to buy it to try and give something back to the community."
The takeover became official at the start of last week and they already have big plans in mind for the future.
"There's going to be a lot of changes here in the next little while," Mr Beach added.
"The pub is an iconic country pub and we just love the feel of it. A lot of the original pub is going to stay the same as it is now.
"But there's going to be extensive renovations done here. The back end of the pub is going to get a real revamp and there's going to be all sorts of bits and pieces here, so it's going to be very exciting going into the future."
At the height of Cargo's gold rush, which started 150 years ago, there were at least three hotels in the district.
But as the gold ran out and the miners left, the profits fell away and one by one the pubs closed or burnt down.
The Cargo Inn, which was called the Commercial when Tooth's brewery inspectors first began visiting in 1924, is the last survivor.
"I love the feel of it," Mr Beach said of the pub.
"It has a really old, cool feel about it. The pub is 150 years old so there's so much history here and it's a great little community.
"I really like the town and the feel here. It's a really great opportunity to be a part of a tight knit community."
