The cellar door category was the only category from the 2020 Orange Wine Show to proceed due to the coronavirus.

An anonymous judge attended the cellar doors of Orange and awarded points based on areas including customer service, sales, presentation of grounds and facilities, regional knowledge and digital and social media presence.

Nashdale Lane Wines' Tanya Ryan-Segger said she was "humbled' by the award.

"To take out the title of the Orange region's best cellar door in any year is a real honour, but given the many challenges of 2020 it is particularly special," said Mrs Ryan-Segger, owner of Nashdale Lane Wines with husband Nick Segger.

ORVA president Tom Ward, owner of Swinging Bridge Wines, said the award and the feedback "provide the business owner an insight into how they are performing, and what they can do to improve their customer experience".

"Off the back of the worst drought in Australian history, the bushfires of early 2020, COVID-19 and now trade issues impacting the export of Australian wine into China, it is fantastic to have a good news story to share from our local industry.

"Congratulations to Nashdale Lane Wines on rising above and delivering an exceptional customer experience in 2020, of all years."

Mrs Ryan-Segger said grape picking began at the vineyard on Tuesday, with chardonnay grapes the first to be plucked.

She was confident of having enough labour on hand to get the fruit off the vines over the next six or so weeks.
