NSW Police are investigating two sheep carcasses that were discovered on the Golden Highway at Dubbo last week, the animals are believed to have been butchered.

Two carcasses were located near the intersection of the Old Mendooran Road on February 19.
Police believe the animals were butchered elsewhere and the remains dumped on the side of the road sometime on February 18 or 19.

It remains unconfirmed if the discovery is linked to a similar incident from the days leading up to February 19 or not. Three days earlier remains of sheep suspected to be stolen, shot and butchered were discovered near Geurie.
Police are appealing for information about the incident and encouraging anyone who saw a vehicle or persons in the area around February 19 to contact Dubbo Police Station on 02 6883 1599 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
