Dr Peterson, who became quadriplegic when he was hit by a car while riding his bike to work at the Orange hospital emergency department in 2018, will be joined by Theodore Crane.
Mr Crane said it was his first tilt at standing for Orange City Council.
Definitely I am standing. I am number two with Dr Steve Peterson
- Theodore Crane, election candidate
"Definitely I am standing. I am number two with Dr Steve Peterson," he said.
Mr Crane said the ticket, which will have four more candidates to be revealed, would stand on a range of issues including town planning.
"The Northern Distributor Road. It has been a bit haphazard. I want to see what I can learn and what I can possibly add [to future debate]," he said.
He said he worked with disadvantaged children and wanted to see service improvements in Orange including "shopping, school and day care arrangements, transport and services" where council could be involved.
Mr Crane said he and Dr Peterson had young families.
"It's fairly broad. I don't think that we really need to have a big ticket item," he said.
Mr Crane said while he was involved with a church in Orange he would not be particularly focussing on religious issues.
He said his previous political involvement included working on the campaign for Nick Xenophon Team candidate Rod Bloomfield who stood in the 2016 federal election in Calare.
"I've been a keen follower of politics for a while," he said. Dr Peterson said he was in discussions with other potential team members.
