It was an outstanding achievement for a regional store. To earn the NSW/ACT Store of the Year title, Orange manager Sharon Mitchell and her team had to outperform 40 other shops across NSW/ACT in a range of financial, customer service and compliance based key performance indicators used to rank every store.
In taking out the state prize, Angus & Coote Orange became the NSW/ACT representative at the prestigious national awards where they were crowned winners and the best performing store from over 120 nationally.
Group regional manager Mark Fairweather said the Orange team's wins reflected the passion of the store team in delivering the best possible level of service to their loyal customers.
Food to go
Affordable take-away food with an American vibe is what Joanna Bateman is looking to bring to Orange.
She and husband Chris Scullin are hoping their food van Mumma Jo's Diner is a hit with the city.
"I lived and worked in America for ten years and we thought we'd go with the American-style burgers, fries, dogs and do variations on those," she said.

"We're a mobile food van but we'll be at JG Autos in William Street on a permanent basis here in Orange and we think we will be up and running by next Monday."
"The cost of fast food is outrageous and we wanted to bring something that is affordable, good quality using locally sourced produce."
No odd shop
For Bradley Bradley the owner of Blayney's latest business The Odd Sock, the name was a natural because it honours the memory of his late wife Shelly.
"My daughter Emily and I called our store The Odd Sock, because Shelly used to laugh all the time about socks disappearing in the washing machine," he said.
"So, she started wearing odd socks for fun and to beat the washing machine at it's own game!"
The Odd Sock will feature a gallery space for artists and an arts and craft supplies, quirky and interesting homewares as well as Mr Bradley's photographic services. The store is located within the Bernardi's Marketplace complex and open Mon-Tue and Thur-Sat 10am -5pm.
