Those who are interested and are aged from 12 to 25 can join its 2021 Youth Reference Group in Orange.

Headspace Orange community engagement coordinator Sharna Lord said joining the Youth Reference Group is a unique chance for young people to shape headspace messages and services, and meet like-minded young people.

"Being a part of the Youth Reference Group is a chance for young people to be directly involved in organising headspace events, providing feedback on current services and groups, brainstorming new group ideas, creating new projects and so much more," Ms Lord said.

"Young people will learn skills in leadership, community engagement, event management, and media engagement to name a few. It's a great environment to learn about mental health and how to be a youth advocate for mental health and youth issues; plus, we have a lot of fun in the process."

Successful candidates will connect with each other and headspace staff fortnightly in person at the Orange centre, to discuss the needs of young people in the Orange community.

Members will represent headspace at events, and accompany headspace staff to schools to engage with young people about the centre. They also provide a voice for young people through interaction with the media and politicians.
