Peter Fuge and the crew from the Lions Club sold 624 sausage sandwiches at Bunnings on Saturday.
It wasn't a record - Mr Fuge said it was not unheard of to sell 700 national dishes during a busy 8am to 4pm summer Saturday - but it was nonetheless a pleasing effort, with about $1,200 after costs added to the club's fund for community projects.
Mr Fuge, who takes his sausage sandwich with a smattering of onions and BBQ sauce, has a schedule on Bunnings day: he brings enough stock to the sizzle for the first chunk of the day, then wife Derry ferries the afternoon supplies around lunchtime.
However, with stocks running low and a queue of hungry DIY types rejecting the offer of crusts, Mr Fuge was forced to have Mrs Fuge readjust her schedule.
"I caught her off guard," said Mr Fuge.
He said about two thirds of people preferred tomato over BBQ sauce, and that about 20 percent were "no onion".
"It might be 25 percent, depending on how many children; a lot don't like the onions."
The Lions Club will be back on March 20 to raise money for the World's Greatest Shave.
