David Jeffry Fry, 28, of Fishburn Crescent, Watanobbi NSW, was driving on the Mitchell Highway, Molong, with a woman and two children in the car when he was stopped by police on January 23.
Fry passed the breath test but when asked for his driver's licence he said, "I haven't got one, I'm just making sure the car's safe, we just bought it".

A police check revealed Fry's learner's licence expired on March 3, 2014, and he had not had a licence since then.
Fry submitted a written guilty plea to Orange Local Court where he was fined $900 and his driver's licence was disqualified for six months back-dated to February 15.
