Aaron Leslie Thomas, 39, appeared in Orange Local Court on Monday via a video link from jail where he is being held on remand after being refused bail for a serious matter that is still before the courts.
According to information supplied to the court, the 6mm calibre gel blaster, which requires a licence in every state except Queensland, was found when police conducted a search warrant at Thomas's former Phillip Street address.
The imitation pistol requires a firearms licence in NSW and was found in separate parts in a box in Thomas's garage.
Solicitor Nico Rump said even if the pistol was not partially disabled it would not be functional as critical pieces that would allow the gun to fire were missing.
