Kyesha, also known as Kiesha, Anne Welsh, 27, of Bonanza Place, was charged with supplying a stolen firearm after one of six guns that were stolen from an Orange house was found in her father's possession.

According to information supplied to the court, six firearms of various calibres were stolen from a gun safe in 2019.

Among them was a .22 Zastava rifle, which police found near Narrabri on July 29 when they searched a car and caravan that Welsh's father was driving along the Newell Highway.

After getting a search warrant, police accessed his mobile phone on August 22 and came across a series of Facebook messages sent by Welsh on May 9, 2019.

"Dad you know anyone that wants to buy some guns they not from Coonamble, they come from a different town," [sic.] the first message from Welsh read.

The message exchanged continued with prices discussed and plans were made for him to look at the guns.

"She said she's take anything for them she just needs money," [sic.] another message from Welsh read.

On May 10, 2019, photos of three of the firearms were also sent and the guns were identified by the owner.

Welsh presented herself to Orange police on August 27, 2019, and admitted she thought the guns were probably stolen. She appeared in Orange Local Court on Wednesday and Friday and was taken into custody.

Solicitor Gerry Stapleton said Welsh did not receive any financial benefit for mediating the sale between a another man connected to her family, whose DNA was found at the initial crime scene, and her father.

Magistrate David Day said it did not matter that she did not do it for money and there was no suggestion she acted under duress.

Mr Day sentenced her to two-years jail with a 15-month non-parole period until April 28, 2022. He said on an indictment the charge carried up to 14 years in jail and community safety was the primary consideration.

"It was committed without regard for public safety," Mr Day said.

"I'm concerned about people walking around with [stolen guns] ... criminals get hold of them to use them for criminal purposes, and that's what's happened here.

"Someone was shot in the street, weren't they, in 2019 with a stolen firearm."
