Emergency services were called to a residence in southern Glenroi at 9.40pm on Tuesday night, where an unregistered Subaru Liberty was alight in the backyard of a Currong Crescent residence.
It took one Fire and Rescue NSW crew just over 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze, avoiding any damage and nullifying any threat to nearby property.
The cause of the fire remains unknown and there was reportedly no indication the car was stolen.
Firefighters did note a distinct smell of petrol at the scene but couldn't determine if that was from the car's tank or was potentially linked to the cause of the blaze.
NSW Police are investigating.
