I agree we do need more sporting fields so build the basics and leave large grandstands till later after our sporting needs are filled.
Bloomfield could be built in stages; a running track, sports field and amenities, remove only the necessary trees and plant new trees for the future then at a later date go ahead with a second stage.
In the meantime, spend the extra money on a sports complex in North Orange where we have a huge population growth and not a Council sports field, the present overcrowded netball complex is on the eastern boundary of the city, why not build more courts in a central area.
Have sports areas close to need, residents should not have to drive across town and cause pollution.
The present environmental study for Bloomfield only concentrates on that area not the effect on the city as a whole.
