The Hornets Regional Touch held an inaugural junior selection camp for players between 12 and 18 from the Hunter and Western regions to lead into team selection for 2021.
Orange man and the Hornets' technical director Joel Begnall said it was a good showing.
"All up across the Hunter and Western Region there were just under 400 kids that attended and then a number of people who lodged expressions of interest that couldn't attend," he said.
"There were probably about 30-odd kids from Orange so pretty good representation.
"Orange was probably one of the bigger clubs in terms of how many kids attended and are definitely one of the stronger clubs within the region."
The camp gave coaches a chance to get an early look at players, before squads are picked around the middle of February.
The next time that players will be able to stake their claim will be in Nelson Bay on February 6 and 7.
