The club says it's very disappointing the car show had to be put off but the club has a duty of care to keep everyone safe, entrants and spectators.
Normally entry forms would have gone out last October and guests locked in for the dinner but that was impossible because the club couldn't predict what the health restrictions would be like in February.
Going ahead with plans five months out was not possible. So after 26 years it's off but will be back bigger and better than ever on February 12 and 13 in 2022.
In the meantime to keep the show interest alive the club is turning 2021 into the Gnoo Blas Classic Art Show, a first for a car club.
The club wants enthusiasts to paint, draw or photograph their car and enter it. All entries will be judged in the three different mediums and in car show classes.
All entries will go on exhibition indoors on the original car show weekend of February 20 and 21 and will be open to the public under the health restrictions that apply then.
Prizes will be awarded in car show categories of: Best Holden, Best Ford, Best Sports Car, Best Ute, Best Truck, Best Motorcycle, Best Pre 1970, Best Post 2000, Best Modern, abstract and People's Choice.
The club is hoping for at least 200 entries.
The public will be invited to look at the exhibition according to Covid conditions at the time.
All entries must be A3 size and not framed. They must be of the entrant's own car, truck or bike.
Photographs can be colour or black and white. Entries should be mailed in suitable sized envelopes or canisters to PO box 2521, Orange, 2800, and must be received no later than Wednesday, February 10, 2021.
It's a unique event and one the club hopes will be a huge success because it will be run as a genuine art show and not an internet gimmick.
The show has the support of the council and sponsors like Shannons, who think it's a great idea to cover for the cancellation of the car show.
If successful it could become another part of the annual car show when it comes back in 2022. The club hopes it will be supported by people wanting to look but can't guess how many spectators will turn up although believes it could be in the hundreds over the weekend.
The club will have an official opening of the show on the Friday night with a special guest.
