The bracket is set to feature teams from Group 10 and Group 11 and while Campbell would love to see Woodbridge win as many games as possible, the objective for him throughout the five-six week period is to bring some of the younger blokes up to speed.
Campbell has coached Manildra's Youth League side for the last five seasons and understands how important it is for young adults to test themselves in a tougher grade as soon as they're ready - that's how he's going to utilise this preseason format.
"It's a chance for some of these kids to step up and progress a bit further in the competition," Campbell said.
"The talent is certainly there in Woodbridge Cup, we just want to give these younger guys an opportunity to test themselves."
Woodbridge isn't usually spoke about in the same breath as your Group 10s and Group 11s but Campbell doesn't think there'll be a lack of competitiveness from his men and knows lots of them have had plenty to do with the other groups anyway.
"They've played in those others systems like Western Rams," he said.
The main hurdle Campbell's side will face is a demographic one as it's going to be much harder for the spread out Woodbridge Cup players to get together for training than it will be for some of the other sides.
"It's always been a little bit harder for us due to the travel," he said.
Rugby league has come a long way in the last couple of decades and Campbell knows coaches always need to adapt the way in which they operate.
And even though he'll address the technical side of things wherever necessary, he describes himself as a good, old-fashioned motivator.
"I'm a motivational sort of guy," he said.
"I get along really well with the kids. As a coach I know there's so much more to do than just put players on the paddock and have them run around and we've all had to adapt."
Campbell had the pleasure of working underneath Simon Osborne in the Manildra men's team and not only did he learn a lot from the iconic front rower, he knows what kind of a void he'll leave in the town.
"To have someone like him and with his credentials... it was very good to have someone like that our here," he said.
"Losing a front rower of his caliber is big but I think Luke's (Petrie) is going to do a new job. He's had some good mentors over the years like Mick Sullivan... he'll bring a lot to Manildra."
Any players interested in representing Woodbridge in the preseason tournament are encouraged to visit Eugowra Oval at 10am on Sunday January 17.
