Orange City Council's annual kerbside pickup will occur through February after collection dates were announced.
People will also be entitled to take up to a ute-load to the tip for free once a year.
People living east of Anson Street should put their large scrap items on the nature strip from Sunday January 31 for collection in the first two weeks of February.
Residents living west of Anson Street should put items out from Sunday February 14.
Orange mayor Cr Reg Kidd said rubbish should not be placed on nature strips outside these dates.
"Please only put household items out for collection on these set dates, staff will only visit each property once," he said.
That scheme, which is paid for by residents through their rates, was originally pushed by councillors Sam Romano and Mario Previtera.
Acceptable rubbish for collection includes appliances and whitegoods, scrap metal such as mowers and bicycles and empty tins and drums.
It does not include mattresses, anything other than whitegoods with an electrical cord, large glass items such as mirrors, car parts, recyclable items, paint and other items.
The council is asking people to limit items to a manageable size for two people to lift (maximum 30 kilograms and loose items must be tied securely with rope or string.
You should also separate your waste into metal items, whitegoods and other waste.
Three trucks will visit each address at about the same time for collection.
Cr Kidd said another scheme, pushed by Cr Kevin Duffy, would be run under a voucher system.
"On top of the household bulky waste collection service, each Orange residence is entitled to one voucher which allows a person to take a ute load, or a box trailer load of household items to the Ophir Road Resource Recovery Centre, on any day, until June 30," he said.
The vouchers will be available from the front desk at the council offices from January 18.
Each residence in the Orange council area is allowed one voucher. Residents must provide a proof of address.
The voucher allows people to dispose of one ute load of household items, or 6 x 4 trailer load for free, any day before June 30.
Hazardous waste such as asbestos is not included in the scheme.
